Alexandria by Lindsey Davis

I just read Alexandria, the latest Marcus Didius Falco novel by Lindsey Davis. Set in A.D. 77, Falco, his wife and children, and a few others in his entourage, travel from Rome to Alexandria, Egypt. Much of the action in the story takes place at the Mouseion, which included the great ancient Library of Alexandria.

Marcus Didius Falco is an entertaining character and it's great fun to get a taste of daily life in the Roman world of the first century. Of course, I especially enjoyed reading this book because I had the good fortune to visit Egypt and the city of Alexandria, including its new library, in 2008.

If you like mysteries and ancient history, I recommend the Marcus Didius Falco series by Lindsey Davis. Fun!
